Inlay V. Onlay
- Inlay- An inlay is used to treat decay or damage to the interior contours of the tooth. An inlay is commonly used to treat large surface areas of damage.
- Onlay- An onlay covers the crown or top of the tooth conforming to the crevices of the natural tooth surface. This is a common place for decay because it can be difficult to thoroughly clean.
Inlays and onlays are made of a high-quality porcelain that restores the function and aesthetics of the damaged tooth. Inlays and onlays are long lasting and durable dental restorations that are both decay and stain resistant.
The inlay or onlay is designed to make the tooth stronger and prevent further decay or trauma to the tooth. Porcelain inlay or onlays can be color matched to blend seamlessly with the patient’s natural smile.
